Mother concerned after daughter faints
David Hutton, Saskatchewan News Network; Canwest News Service
Published: Tuesday, October 07, 2008
SASKATOON -- A concerned mother is warning parents about the HPV vaccine after an episode last week when her daughter lost consciousness after she was administered her first shot.

Louise Laplante, the mother of Taylor Rousell, a 10-year-old Grade 6 student at St. John school in Saskatoon's west end, said her daughter fainted in the hallway about five minutes after she received the vaccination on Thursday. Her classmates witnessed Rousell kicking her legs and groaning briefly after she fainted, Laplante said.

My girls won't have the cancer jab
The new cervical cancer vaccine offers few benefits, says Jerome Burne, father of two daughters. Which makes the risks even more alarming
The Independent
Tuesday, 18 November 2008
Much as I love my two gorgeous daughters – aged 13 and 17 – and wish to protect them from all harm, I will not be consenting to them having the HPV vaccine against cervical cancer.

It's a public health initiative that is unnecessary, reckless and ridiculously expensive. Worse, serious doubts about its wisdom have not been properly presented to the public. Instead, children and parents have been bombarded with publicity – "a totally life-saving, revolutionary vaccine" – while the media have largely parroted official assertions that it is "safe, proven and effective", all of which are unfounded.

Gardasil HPV Vaccine Side Effects
Posted by Sharyl Attkisson
CBS News
Yesterday I spoke to the families of young women who believe the Gardasil HPV vaccine may have – or did in fact – cause their child's serious illness. One of the cases involves a now 18-year old young woman named Amanda.

Amanda's parents say she developed a serious reaction to Gardasil after her first dose last summer. It began with soreness where she received the injection. The soreness eventually travelled down her arm, her legs, and led to a horrible autoimmune myofasciitis that is so painful Amanda had to go on morphine for the pain.

She was transformed, through the illness, from a high school varsity sport athlete to a chronically ill person who takes a handful of pills a day just to keep her illness tolerable. When she goes off the medicine, the excruciating pain and other debilitating symptoms return.

Riddle of illness that left girl unable to walk
Dec 4 2008 by Michelle Fiddler, Liverpool Echo

A SCHOOLGIRL was left paralysed after being struck down by a mystery illness.

Ashleigh Cave, 12, has been bed-bound in Alder Hey children’s hospital since October after collapsing during a family trip to London.

The Year 8 pupil at Maghull’s Maricourt Catholic high school fell ill with a severe headache within minutes of having her HPV cervical cancer jab.

She developed nausea before collapsing two days later and being taken into hospital, where she has remained ever since.

Ashleigh is currently undergoing intensive physiotherapy and hydro- therapy to help her regain movement in her legs.

Catholic school bans cervical cancer jabs
Thursday, 25 September 2008

A Catholic school is to refuse to allow girls to have the HPV cervical cancer injections on its premises.

Governors of St Monica's High, in Prestwich, Bury, who in the past have said the jabs encourage sexual promiscuity, say the decision was made on health grounds. The injections are backed by the national Catholic Education Service.

Governor and parish priest Monsignor John Allen last night defended the school's decision.

"This is not a moral judgment on the vaccination", he said.

"It's a question of where this vaccination should be given and how it should be given."

Governors wrote to the parents of Year 8 girls, aged 12 to 13, informing them of their decision.

The letter states that during a pilot study of the vaccine at a local clinic "a number of our girls were either absent from school the day following their vaccination or had to be sent home from school suffering from dizziness, nausea, joint pain, headaches or high temperature."

Board rejects info that warns of HPV — Pamphlet will not be distributed to Catholic parents
Posted By MICHAEL PURVIS, THE SAULT STAR
December 11, 2008

A pamphlet warning against Human Papillomavirus vaccines will not go out to Catholic school parents, the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board decided Wednesday.

The pamphlet, created by pro-life group Alliance for Life, was proposed for distribution by Trustee Kathleen Rosilius last month after the board reversed its position and decided to allow Gardasil vaccine to be administered in H-SCDSB schools.

Trustees were greeted Wednesday with a report from the board's director of education, John Stadnyk, recommending the pamphlet be left out of the board's correspondence with parents regarding the vaccine, saying the board would be "challenged to verify," the materials it contains.

Stadnyk recommended parents receive a letter from himself, a letter from the Ontario Council of Catholic Bishops regarding the moral issues surrounding the vaccine, and an information package from Algoma Public Health.

Trustees supporting the pamphlet defended the credibility of the sources it cites, calling it balanced and well-referenced.

Trustee Regis O'Connor said the board shouldn't be afraid to disseminate information to inform parents.

He is concerned that the only information that has come in writing so far has been in favour of the vaccine.

"What do you expect Algoma Public Health to say? That's like asking Dracula if he's in favour of looking after the blood bank," said O'Connor.

A vaccine for disinformation
Rumoured side effects and a lack of information appear to have doomed an ambitious plan to inoculate Romanian girls against HPV.
By Paul Ciocoiu for Southeast European Times in Bucharest
November 28,2008

A 23m-euro vaccination campaign initiated by Romania's health ministry has sparked widespread confusion. Under the programme, around 100,000 fourth-grade girls were supposed to be immunised against the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), the main cause of cervical cancer. At least five Romanian women die every day from this disease, with 95% of cases traceable to HPV.

However, many families have refused the vaccine after hearing rumours that it was not tested adequately and could lead to death. Teachers and school medics say they received little information about the vaccine and have thus not been able to properly educate parents about it. Specialists have given conflicting statements, some approving and others critical.

Gardasil Vaccination Results in Three Outbreaks of Genital Warts in Fiji School Children
By Hilary White
November 18, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Gardasil, the vaccine being pushed by governments around the world to combat the spread of human papillomavirus (HPV), has been linked in Fiji with 3 cases of outbreaks of genital warts among primary school students. HPV, the most common sexually transmitted infection which causes genital warts, has been linked to the development of cervical cancer in women and governments around the world are implementing mandatory vaccination programs using Gardasil.

With the Fijian government pressing forward with mass vaccination programs, Matelita Ragogo, writing in the Fiji Times, asks, “Are our girls guinea pigs?”

She reports that within three months of the government approving Gardasil vaccinations for school girls, three primary school students were reported to have “reacted negatively” to the vaccination. Ragogo points out that although the Fijian government has approved the vaccine for use on young girls, the testing process for the drug is not expected to be completed until 2009. Nevertheless, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has “fast-tracked” approval of the drug after a six-month review process.

U.S. Government Mandates HPV Vaccine for New U.S. Residents
Wednesday, November 12, 2008 by: Sherry Baker, Health Sciences Editor
NaturalNews) Despite growing reports of serious and even fatal reactions to the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced today that people from other countries who want to become legal permanent residents of the U.S. are required to have the HPV vaccination to protect against cervical cancer.

The new rule, outlined in the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) revised Technical Instructions to Civil Surgeons for Vaccination Requirements, stipulates “age-appropriate” groups, which means girls and young adult women, have to show proof of the vaccinations or they will not be granted legal permanent resident status in the U.S.

This marks another enormous marketing success for the drug giant Merck & Co., maker of the HPV vaccine, Gardasil. Merck has lobbied for virtual universal vaccination of females with the vaccine. Gardasil is currently licensed for use in girls and women ages 9 to 26 and many health and school officials are pushing to make the vaccine mandatory for all girls by the age of 11 or 12. Some doctors are also offering Gardasil “off label” to women in their 20s to "catch-up" on their vaccinations. Merck, whose profits from the vaccine are expected to be in the billions, also wants to market it to women ages 27 to 45. So far the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has denied that request.

Doubts remain about Gardasil

Almost 12 years ago, Dawn Richardson and several other people formed Parents Requesting Open Vaccine Education. Since then, the Austin-based organization has campaigned against several efforts to tighten vaccine requirements in Texas, including Gov. Rick Perry's 2007 executive order.

"If the Health Department wanted to promote it, that's one thing," Richardson said of the vaccine. "But to say your sixth-grade girl can't go to school because she didn't get vaccinated for a sexually transmitted disease. That was crazy."

Richardson is opposed to mandating vaccines in general. She said she thinks the decision should be left up to parents.

Cancer jab linked to pancreas disease
LOUISE HALL, HEALTH REPORTER
17/08/2008 1:00:01 AM

THE cervical cancer vaccine is under fresh scrutiny after three women were struck down with pancreatitis soon after receiving the injection.

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) is investigating whether the shot of Gardasil caused the sudden inflammation of the pancreas in the three patients, or whether it was just a coincidence.

A 26-year-old woman went to Bankstown Hospital four days after receiving her first dose of the quadrivalent vaccine, which protects young women from the strains of human papillomavirus (HPV) that cause 70percent of cervical cancers.

Writing in the Medical Journal Of Australia , surgery fellow Amitabha Das said the woman developed a fever, rash, severe pain and vomiting and was diagnosed with pancreatitis. After 10 days the symptoms settled and she was discharged from hospital and remains well.

Dr Das and his colleagues said an extensive investigation could find no other cause for the pancreatitis and while a coincidental illness could not be ruled out, "neither can HPV vaccination be excluded as a potential cause".

"We suggest that pancreatitis be considered in cases of abdominal pain following HPV vaccination," they wrote.

Allergic reaction risk to cervical cancer jab

YOUNG women given the cervical cancer vaccine are up to 26 times more likely to have a life-threatening allergic reaction than those given other vaccines, Australian researchers have found.

But the Gardasil shot, which protects against strains of the cancer-causing human papillomavirus (HPV) is "remarkably safe", and should continue to be rolled out, health authorities say.

A study of 114,000 young women vaccinated in NSW last year uncovered 12 suspected cases of anaphylaxis, a potentially life-threatening allergic reaction that can cause breathing difficulty, nausea and rashes.

Cervical Cancer Vaccine: 'dangers Mean More Research Is Needed'

An independent health researcher is calling on the government for more research into the possible side-effects of the cervical cancer vaccine that is currently being given to teenage girls throughout the country.

Grace Filby, who won a Churchill Fellowship for her research into phage therapy, believes that not enough is known about the effects of the vaccine on children with pre-existing medical conditions and with weakened immune systems from their existing medication.  ...

She also suggested a study of any side-effects at the Royal Alexandra and Albert state boarding school in Reigate, Surrey, where Year 8 girls had their first jabs on Friday 26 September, ...

Call for ethics debate as tests in womb could allow termination of pregnancies

The Guardian, Monday 12 January 2009

New research published today will bring prenatal testing for autism significantly closer, prompting experts to call for a national debate about the consequences of screening for the disorder in the womb and allowing women to terminate babies with the condition.

The breakthrough study by Cambridge University's autism research centre has followed 235 children from birth to the age of eight. It found that high levels of testosterone in the amniotic fluid of pregnant women was linked to autistic traits, such as a lack of sociability and verbal skills, in their children by the time they are eight.

Spain withdraws cervical cancer shot after illnesses
February 10, 2009

MADRID (AFP) — Spanish health authorities have withdrawn tens of thousands of doses of a vaccine against cervical cancer after two teenagers who received the shots were hospitalised, regional authorities said on Tuesday.

A batch of nearly 76,000 doses of the human papillomavirus vaccine (HPV) was withdrawn from market, a government statement said, after two girls in the eastern Valencia region fell seriously ill hours after receiving them.

"One of the girls got out of intensive care this weekend and the other is still there. Both are in stable condition," a Valencia health department spokeswoman told AFP.

The GARDASIL vaccine resulted in casualties.
Wednesday February 18 2009

Last week the Spanish Ministry of Health has requested the withdrawal of the batch of Gardasil NH52670, continued reporting by the health authorities of the Autonomous Community of Valencia of the emergency admission of two teenagers aged 14, shortly after their second dose of vaccine.

The two teenagers do not know each other and have nothing in common except age and Gardasil.  They were vaccinated 4 to 6 February, and have both been unwell, because of convulsions and lost consciousness soon after vaccination. One of them is still in intensive care and his condition is considered serious, but stable. The other "presents a positive development," according to the newspaper El Mundo as of yesterday (10 February), in the article "Las niñas ingresadas en Valencia por la vacuna no tenían enfermedades previas" (The girls hospitalized in Valencia because of the vaccine were not sick before).

After the first hospitalization of the girl, doctors told the parents that they could not exclude any possibility, since no examination or analysis carried out so far no evidence of disease or any pre-existing predisposition which would explain the seizures. This statement is also echoed by the Minister of Health of the Valencian Community.

The Spanish were among the first in Europe to oppose the massive vaccination and have launched a petition you can sign online. Their arguments are described in the text entitled "Razones para una moratoria en la aplicación de la vacuna del virus del papiloma humano en España" (Reasons for the request for a moratorium in immunization against [certain types of] human papillomavirus in Spain), which accompanies the petition and which are the major lines in this open forum of Professor Carlos Alvarez-Dardet published in El Pais. Pharmacritique was the first to report in France of this movement of "civic resistance" in the note entitled "The Spanish doctors are calling for a moratorium on the use of Gardasil. Raisons et pétition “. Reasons and petition. "

Other critical reactions signed by Professor Carlos Alvarez-Dardet, which denounces experimentation on direct girls pri his guinea pig, which is to read those of Dr Juan Gervas  (here and here), also read "Gardasil, widely criticized abroad," d 'where you can access several other international protests.

It should be noted elsewhere in Austria, parents of Jasmin Soriat, died after vaccination with Gardasil, continue to fight and to inform public opinion. It should be noted that shortly after the Minister of Health then Dr. Andrea Kdolsky, who did not hide his reservations regarding the Gardasil, has decided not to recommend and the dérembourser. Decision based on the results of a very clear expertise requested by the Austrian health authorities.

Once again the American public has been duped in believing that Gardasil is safe when the rest of the world is making their doubts be known.  In these excerpts you see that Spain and Austria are expressing their misgivings.

A few other countries are having the same reservations: Italy, Canada, Switzerland, France and Allemagne.

TEENAGE GIRLS SUE OVER CANCER JAB
Sunday April 19,2009
By Lucy Johnston

A GROUP of British teenagers has launched the first legal action against the makers of a controversial cervical cancer jab.

They have suffered symptoms ranging from paralysis and seizures to fatigue and muscle aches since being given the Cervarix vaccine.

The jab is being given to girls from the age of 11 in a huge nationwide programme launched last September.

It is claimed it will give 70 per cent protection from the disease to every girl under 18 by 2011.

But a growing number of parents and medical experts believe the vaccine may have alarming side effects.

...Critics say its sister vaccine Gardasil, used in the US for nearly three years, is linked to almost 12,000 reactions including 32 deaths, paralysis, seizures, blood clots, heart attacks, sight problems and blackouts.

London GP Richard Halvorsen, author of The Truth About Vaccines, said: “It has been introduced far too quickly. I would not recommend girls are vaccinated until we know more.”

Biologist Dr Mae Wan Ho, who has published a recent report on the jab, said: “I would ban this vaccine. It has low effectiveness and it is also subjecting people to the risk of long-term side effects.”

E-mails about aluminum in vaccines.

E-mails about aluminum in vaccines.
In March, many GGD's received an e-mail about aluminum in vaccines.  In the e-mail referred to a book written by Robert W. Sears with the title: Is Aluminum the New Thimerosal?  In his work Sears calls for a break in the current way of vaccinating and first more research into the safety of vaccines with aluminum containing vaccines.

If you have questions about this subject, please use the following points.

Vaccines containing this substance because the vaccine otherwise would be less, it is a so-called adjuvant.
In vaccines is not the metal aluminum, but poorly-solubale salts of aluminum.
Toxicity of the metal form (the extent to which the substance can poison) is not translatable to toxicity in salt form.  The poor solubility of salt will the availability of aluminum after injuection inthe blood are low.

The references in the book by Sears refers to sources that deal with other administration via an injection into the muscle, ie, administration directly into the blood (venous system).  This is a important difference, because when administered in the blood all at once via the blood to the body available.

Another reference is on research in mice.  Results can not be directly translated to people.

Experiences in Limburg-Noord
GGD Noord Limburg has opted for an intensive cooperation with secondary schools in the region.
There were the first day turnout rates between 64% and 100% achieved.  Groendijk indicates  that coordination and cooperation with schools is essential to ensure the turnout rate achieve.  Schools and health authorities have increased to allow girls to inform and to remind vaccination. Groendijk:  "It is a good, but time consuming strategy. And joint efforts of GGD and schools is easier to achieve with the smaller schools because they are more synoptic.
Personal information produced much, you can discuss the questions directly and look that there to live.  Groendijk:  It is important actual for both communications and information team and to commitment.

In the reporting period, 243,500 shots administered.  The reporting rate after 6 weeks campaign reported reactions is 1.0 per 1000 vaccinated girls. By comparison, during the vaccination campaign against meningococcal C, the reporting rate 5 per 10,000 vaccinated children (on total age range from 14 months to 18 years).

Over the first 6 weeks of the HPV campaign through the side effects registered 222 reports received, including 3 hospital admissions. In 1 of these recordings, there is a possible link with the vaccination, the other two, this association is unlikely.

Acute incidents
These are reports of events immediately before or after the puncture to the puncture site.

The log level of these acute events is 4.2 per 1,000 vaccinated girls.

I ran the numbers to see how many girls are going to have an adverse effect from the shots using 4.2 per 1000 and with the 243,500 shots administered (First dose) there could be 1023 girls that had or are still having an adverse effect to the Cervarix vaccine.
What is going to happen when these girls get the second and third shot?  As we have seen in the United States these numbers are going to rise because of the rechallenge to the immune systems of these little girls.  Their immune systems are going to go into overdrive and that is when things are going to happen.
Please remember, Cervarix has 0.5mg aluminum and Gardasil only has 0.225mg and look at the problems we are having in the United States.

Fears over reactions to cervical cancer jab
Published Date: 01 June 2009, The Scotsman
By Marisa de Andrade

MORE than 150 girls in Scotland have suffered adverse reactions after receiving the cervical cancer vaccine introduced last autumn, The Scotsman can reveal.

Campaigners are calling for the vaccination programme to be suspended, claiming there are unanswered questions about the long-term effectiveness and safety of Cervarix. They are concerned that official information refers to mild side-effects, when some girls have reported serious reactions to the jab.

The families of six girls in England are suing GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), the maker of Cervarix, after the girls suffered severe reactions resulting in partial paralysis, seizures and chronic fatigue. The Scotsman has learned two more have contacted the same solicitor after suffering severe painful swelling of joints.

But a public health expert in Germany said evidence for its effectiveness was "sparse".

Dr Ansgar Gerhardus, of the University of Bielefeld, is part of a team of 13 experts who studied all publicly available data on the effectiveness of the vaccines.

He believes the public has been given the impression that the vaccine reduces the risk of cervical cancer, when this hasn't been proven.

Ethical violations of HPV vaccination trials in India: SAMA
Posted by: Aditya Nigam | May 17, 2010

Many of the vaccinated girls continue to suffer from stomachaches, headaches, giddiness and exhaustion. There have been reports of early onset of menstruation, heavy bleeding and severe menstrual cramps, extreme mood swings, irritability, and uneasiness following the vaccination. No systematic follow up or monitoring has been carried out by the vaccine providers.

While the project was being carried out under the banner of the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) shockingly enough the Mission’s mandate does not extend to or mention any such research project. Further, the existing health infrastructure in the region is woefully inadequate. Pap smear facilities are conspicuous by their absence in all government facilities in the area. The entire tribal mandal of Bhadrachalam does not have a single gynaecologist.

The state government has claimed that the deaths of the four girls post-vaccination were unrelated to the ‘project’. However, parents of Kudumula Sarita, who died in January 2010, believe that their daughter died due to the vaccination, and not by consuming pesticide, as has been officially declared by the authorities.

Centre halts HPV vaccine project
Thursday, Apr 08, 2010, The Hindu
Aarti Dhar

NEW DELHI: In the wake of reports of violation of ethical guidelines and exploitation during the “clinical trials” of HPV (human papilloma virus) vaccine, meant to prevent cervical cancer among women, the Centre on Wednesday advised the State governments to suspend the vaccine programme until the issue is settled.

Director-General of the Indian Council of Medical Research V.M. Katoch told The Hindu that he had asked the Health Ministry, the State governments and the people not to go ahead with the programme. “There can be no compromise, if ethical issues have been violated by any non-governmental organisation or pharmaceutical company.”

“I am not prematurely judging that the NGO is at fault, but if there are allegations, they need to be investigated, and concrete evidence has to be brought to our notice. But, until this happens, the programme needs to be suspended,” he said.

HPV Vaccine Questioned Internationally

UK health officials have wrongly assumed the human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccine can prevent 70 per cent of cases of cervical cancer and press reports show “German experts said the assumptions simply did not stand up to scrutiny, and that women remained at risk“: Experts Cast Doubt on Claim for ‘Wonder’ Cancer Jabs  Sunday Express 31 May 2009: Cervical cancer jabs cast into doubt after experts question effectiveness Scotland On Sunday 10th May 2009.

The HPV vaccine can have serious adverse effects with high levels of reported adverse reactions.  Death and debilitating illness have been claimed but officials do not acknowledge an association.

The Sunday Express reports Professor Martina Doren, of the Charitie Hospital in Berlin:

"What concerns us is that the two manufacturers of the vaccine aren’t always using facts. They claim that a lot of high-risk strains of cancer-causing virus are protected against but equally there are others that are not. If protection is not more than 20 per cent then that is an awful lot of money to be spending, particularly as the vaccines have quite serious side-effects.”

Scottish Conservative health spokeswoman Mary Scanlon said: “Given this new research, it is now incumbent on the Scottish Government and the chief medical officer to review the vaccination programme to ensure that it lives up to the expectations of preventing cervical cancer.”

The HPV vaccine programme is based on recommendations of the UK’s Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation. This highlights questions over the competence of the UK’s JCVI to make recommendations on UK vaccination programmes and the competence of medical professionals in general to express opinions on scientific matters.

West Coast school rejects vaccine
Last updated 13:50 11/03/2010, The Press

Hokitika's Westland High School has refused to allow anti-cancer vaccine Gardasil to be administered on its premises, a move health bosses say is worrying.

Last year, the school's board of trustees was criticised by the Ministry of Health for publishing an article in the school newsletter on the supposed pitfalls of the Gardasil human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, which aims to protect girls from the age of 12 against cervical cancer.

The school's decision comes only days after Wellington woman Rhonda Renata publicly blamed the Gardasil vaccine for the death of her 18-year-old daughter last year.

Jasmine died in September, six months after she received the last of the three injections of the vaccine.

Ms Renata said ``right from the first shot'' Jasmine complained of ailments including headaches, weak limbs, pins and needles, abdominal and chest pains, and a racing heartbeat.

She is now waiting for answers from the coroner.

Meanwhile, Timaru mother Julie Smith has started a website, www.offtheradar.co.nz, out of concern about the vaccine as she researched it.

``The site was born out of the frustration of a parent who wished to make an informed decision about Gardasil for their daughter, and the difficulty they incurred in not being told the complete story about the vaccine by the Ministry of Health and medical establishment,'' Mrs Smith said.

HPV Vaccine Kills 16-Year-Old Girl Lawsuit Alleges

Englewood, NJ (PRWEB) April 21, 2010 -- A lawsuit filed in the U.S. Federal Court of Claims this week alleges that the HPV vaccine Gardasil caused the death of a 16-year-old Missouri girl. Gardasil is a vaccine used to prevent the transmission of a sexually transmitted disease called human papillomavirus (HPV). Controversy regarding the safety of Gardasil surrounded the vaccine since its FDA approval in 2006 and continues to be the subject of intense debate.

Influence of Merck’s money on doctor recommendations

Merck’s “1 Less” campaign, directed at every adolescent-aged female instead of those populations at greatest risk, combined with the generous education grants for professional medical associations like the American Medical Society (3). These grants were made with the primary goal of obtaining physician encouragement of Gardasil vaccinations and proved successful as sales in 2008 were $1.4 billion worldwide (3). However, the relationship between professional medical associations and Merck raises questions concerning Merck’s aggressive anticancer campaign’s influence on the responsibilities these associations have to be impartial advocates for vaccinations (3).
